Building a nuclear power plant is a very high risk and dangerous investment as studies over the years have shown that nuclear energy and waste causes harmful and toxic chemicals to pollute our fresh air in Australia. In Montgomery's argument about how to build a state of the art nuclear power plant they say that this will bring in a lot of assets and jobs for the local people of Cobar. But the risks outweigh the fact that people who work at nuclear power plants will have a higher exposure to radiation which can lead to higher risk of acute long term illnesses like cancer, even a small amount of time around ionizing radiation causes cardiovascular diseases as well. Working in a nuclear power plant may might not be as local or abundant as Montongermy states because, working in a nuclear power plant requires great and highly specialised skills to work in so many of these proposing jobs whom allegedly will go towards the local people of the small town of Cobart will most likely go to outside experts and people not from cobart but from foreign countries of different states as this is an Government project so the average person will not get much out of this project, so why even bother building such a large operation from a large federation in a small town like Cobart it should be built in big cities like New york or Sydney Australia. So what good comes out of giving dangerous and risky jobs to the people of Cobar. Furthermore in Montgomery argument, Peter Dutton says nuclear energy is cheap, clean and reliable but that's not really the case, its already very expensive and requires a lot of time to develop and build a nuclear power plant, just building one nuclear power plant takes up to nine to eleven years especially building it in a small town would take decades to fully develop. Furthermore it is not reliable at all because nuclear energy can't be just produced that easily, it needs to be mined out like coal, if it increases the risk of contaminating the environment with radioactive dust being airborne into the atmosphere, and background radiation which will increase cancer and other long term illness as we can see here citizens not only in Cobar but the whole of Australia will be affected with these serious health risks. Ultimately in Montgomerys argument it states that fourty six percent support nuclear energy but considering the other opposing fifty four percent, together it is not only about a small survey of peoples opinions its about unity coming together as one in Australia, these people who are saying yes to the project of building a nuclear power plant have forgotten the posing risks it does to the other fifty four percent of the population. Ultimately we should not build a nuclear power plant in the small town of Cobart just because of the challenges and hardships this town has faced, we should firstly and most importantly consider the lives and people who live in Cobart and the future generations to come, in which the dangers and irrreversiable effects of a nuclear power plant could wipe out the entire population of Cobart. So lets all come together as a community and protest and say no to the construction of building a nuclear power plant.
